Our founders, William and Jane Ann Ellis
William and Jane Ann Ellis began protecting the Crane Hollow watershed in 1977. In 1980, they also founded Crane Hollow, Inc. to protect and manage the Preserve long-term. Bill and Jane Ann's vision was to establish a permanent nature preserve for the plants, animals, and natural communities of the Crane Hollow watershed that would be used by future generations for enjoyment and scientific study.
Today, Crane Hollow Preserve is managed by a full-time Executive Director and Assistant Preserve Manager, together with a Board of Directors. For contact information, click here. This team continues to work to develop management goals, encourage research, and promote the vision of its founders. The Ellis family continues to stay involved in preserve management today.
